Among the numerous churches of the León, la Recoleccion is considered as the most beautiful one. Built in 1786, la Recolleccion Church is characterized by a Mexican-style baroque confection and by an impressive dark yellow facade. Located on the “banks street” and distinguished for its exquisite cliff of stucco with a perfect Latin American baroque style. The interior also contains one of the best baroque altarpieces in the city highlighted with paintings and silver engravings. The church was subject to an expensive restoration courtesy of the Spanish and Italian governments. Last but not least, the baroque construction has a well-preserved and imposing bell tower.
