How to get to Granada, Nicaragua?

Fly to Managua (the capital of Nicaragua) and from there make your way by bus (every half hour from Mercado Huembes or the La UCA station) or taxi. There is a tourist information counter as soon as you clear immigration. The trip by taxi or shuttle is about 40 minutes. Managua is by far your best option. Another option may be to fly to the Liberia Airport over the border in Costa Rica, but it would involve about 5 hours of travel and a border crossing. Spanish Dale! offers convenient transportation from your airport to Granada or vice-versa. Feel free to ask us for an airport pick-up!

How is the weather in Nicaragua?

There are basically two seasons in Nicaragua. The dry season or summer (“verano”) is from December to May, and the rainy season or winter (“invierno”) is from June to November. The temperature in Nicaragua varies little from season to season.

Do I need a visa/passport?

Travelers from most countries can stay in Nicaragua for 30 or 90 days without a visa, as long as they have a passport valid for the next six months.

Is Nicaragua safe?

Nicaragua has the lowest crime rate in Central America, lower than the US or Europe (Lonely Planet). Use common sense and take standard safety precautions, but Nicaragua is about as safe as it gets.
